The Espalier
Dressing up the brick walls located at the back of the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication and the University Center are selections of plants which lend themselves to the art of espalier, whereby woody plant growth is controlled through pruning and tying of branches in order to maintain the plants in a relatively flat plane. Several different selections of plants have been chosen which lend themselves to this practice such at ivy (Hedera), firethorn (Pyracantha) and fringeflower (Loropetalum).
